Existing viral formulations are easy to use and can be sprayed like any other insecticide. They are compatible with almost all other active ingredients. Therefore, we see increasing potential for the use of insect viruses in integrated strategies of integrated pest management systems.
Ecotropis Obliqua Nuclear Polyhedrosis Virus (EoNPV) is an important virus isolated from the larvae of gray ecotropis obliqua. The pathogenicity of the virus is closely related to the temperature. When the temperature is below 30 degree, the pathogenicity is extremely strong. When the temperature is above 30 degree, the pathogenicity to the host larvae is significantly reduced. 120 hours after the host larvae were infected with the virus, a reticulated virus generating matrix, rod-shaped nucleocapsid, and a large amount of envelope material appeared in the nucleus of the midgut epithelial cells, and the virus particles entered the aggregated polyhedrin protein. After the larvae of tea ecotropis obliqua are infected with the virus, the incubation period is longer, usually about 7 days, which determines the slower efficacy of the agent. Therefore, it is often mixed or mixed with Bacillus thuringiensis and other fast-acting agents.

Ectropis obliqua nuclear polyhedrosis virus(EoNPV) is an important pathogenic microorganism of tea ecotropis obliqua. After spraying onto crops and being eaten by pests, the virus particles replicate and multiply in the pest body, and quickly spread to all parts of the pest. Parts of the body are drastically engulfed to consume the tissues of the worms, and the pests do not eat or move during the period of "illness", causing a sub-lethal effect, and eventually the whole body is killed by water; spraying on the insects, the larvae that will hatch will bite after eating the egg shell Death by feeding on the virus. In addition, virus particles can continue to be transmitted to the next generation or other pests through the body fluids and feces of dead insects like a "plague", so that field pests can be effectively controlled for a long time.
Compared with other pesticides, viral pesticides have the following advantages:
1. Specificity: The infection mechanism of insect viruses requires the spike protein on the surface of the virus to recognize and bind to the receptor glycoprotein on the surface of the host cell, in order to infect the host and only kill the target host.
2. Safety: Viral pesticide is harmless to humans and animals, does not kill natural enemies and other beneficial insects, does not pollute the environment, and NPV is of great significance for the protection of the ecological chain.
3. No residue: Virus is a kind of protein, which has no residue on crops.
4. Epidemic: The virus can spread horizontally and vertically in the pest population and is contagious.
5. The production process is pollution-free and low energy consumption. An insect is a virus synthesis factory.
6. High efficiency and persistence: The nuclear polyhedrosis virus can remain active in the soil for up to 5 years. After the diseased and dead insects rot in the field, a large amount of viruses will be released, and the number of field viruses will continue to be maintained; thus reducing the number of spraying and reducing The cost of medicines and labor, and the overall cost will also decrease.
7. Farmland pest is not easy to develop resistance: The virus has no cell structure, no complete enzyme system, and the factors that play a role in the metabolic pathway of microorganisms are not affected, and it is not easy to develop resistance. So far, there is no relevant report on insect virus resistance. For example, the human body has no resistance to the new coronavirus and SARS virus, nor corresponding immunity, and no targeted drugs.
